Bal Harbour is a village, which offers residents a luxurious lifestyle within Miami-Dade County. This area exudes a luxurious and contemporary lifestyle featuring impeccable oceanfront residences, resorts, and hotels. This serene beach enclave is the ideal home for residents who enjoy a relaxing beach lifestyle near a major metropolitan city. This village truly offers its residents the best of both worlds.
Bal Harbour was originally named Bay Harbour; however, the planning committee did not find that name appropriate as the city was on the beach. The name is as unique as the area – the “b” in Bal Harbour comes from the word “bay,” and the “a” and “l” were taken from the Atlantic. Therefore, the word or name “Bal” was created. The Village of Bal Harbour was incorporated in August 1946. Curiously, Bal Harbour was the first Florida community to have utilities placed underground. The first hotel built in the area was named “The Kenilworth By-the-Sea,” and was built by Tom Raffington and made famous by Arthur Godfrey.
The village is world-renowned for the Bal Harbour Shops. This outdoor mall was built in 1965 by the Whitman family. Today this high-end shopping and dining destination is home to luxury brands and restaurants owned by world-famous chefs. Residents and tourists alike enjoy a stroll among the corridors of the Bal Harbour Shops, and cap off their visit with a haute dining experience.
Bal Harbour offers residents exceptional waterfront condos and homes. This luxury neighborhood offers residents a lifestyle full of extravagance and serenity all within minutes from Miami Beach, Greater Miami, and Broward County. Residents are lucky enough to live within close proximity to cosmopolitan dining, shopping, art, and entertainment destinations.
