Neighborhood Description

The city of Hollywood is located in Broward County, Florida, between Miami and Fort Lauderdale.  This beach city has one of the most user-friendly oceanfront boardwalk in Florida, with its paved pathway where thousands of people rollerblade, jog, bike, and run each year.  Hollywood attracts permanent residents, semi-permanent residents, and tourists alike due in part to its eclectic, laidback atmosphere.  Hollywood’s population was 146,526 as of the 2010 census.

Hollywood was founded in 1925 by Joseph W. Young after the town of Hollywood, California.  He dreamt of building a motion picture colony on the East Coast similar to that of its namesake on the West Coast.  Previous to its founding, in 1920, Young had purchased thousands of acres of land, and named is up and coming town “Hollywood by the Sea.”  He did so to distinguish it from his New York real estate venture, “Hollywood in the Hills.  As Hollywood is a planned city, the town was built around Hollywood Boulevard as its main thoroughfare.

This city by the sea is great for families or active individuals as Hollywood is filled with an array of outdoor recreational areas.  There are 7 golf courses, over 60 parks, and miles of sandy beaches for outdoor activities and fun.  Hollywood Beach is famous for its 2.5 mile long boardwalk that extends along the Atlantic Ocean.  Residents and tourists alike can enjoy countless attractions such as theatres, playgrounds, restaurants, and stores along this boardwalk.  Another exciting area of Hollywood is Young Circle.  This area is surrounded by dozens and dozens of bars, shops, and restaurants.  The area is well-known for cultural diversity, which can be seen and experienced in the array of cuisines that can be found in the area.

Hollywood offers residents outstanding luxury waterfront condos and homes.  This diverse, suburban residential area offers residents a luxurious lifestyle within driving distance to two major cities – Greater Miami and Fort Lauderdale.  There are several luxury communities available in this area that offer amazing options and amenities such as state-of-the-art gyms, breathtaking views, and 24/7 concierge service.

Hollywood is located between Fort Lauderdale and Miami Beach.  It is 20 miles from world-famous South Beach, and 10 miles away from the heart of Ft. Lauderdale’s oceanfront destinations.  In addition, Hollywood is located near Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Miami International Airport.
